Calendar of Events for August 2010:

Military Date Night  – Saturday, August 7th, 5:30 to 9:30 pm

Take a break from the kids and enjoy yourselves, with the help of the Bremerton Family YMCA Military Date Night Program. Bring the little ones in - as young as 4 weeks will be accepted - for only $3.50 per hour per child, for up to four hours on the first Saturday evening of each month. Once parents have dropped of the kids they can go have fun - See a movie, have dinner or just kick back and relax in the peace and quiet. (Prepaid punch cards are available for only $30 for 10 hrs or $3.00 per hour.)


Splash & Jam  - August 21st, 6-9 pm
It's truly a great time for everyone of all ages. The supervised evening offers a choice of activities swimming; gym games, arts and crafts, food and more. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Free for members, and the public-at-large is welcome - $5 for non-members. Registration & check-in from 6 to 6:45 pm, no admittance later. 

Teen Late Night! Every Friday night - 8:30-11 p.m.
For teens, ages 13-19: bring your friends and experience a night filled with many fun activities. Teens are able to swim, use the hot tub, play basketball, wallyball or board and table games, plus more. Refreshments, including pizza, are served.  There is no cost for YMCA members and non-members pay only $5 per person.

"Ditch the Workout & Join the Party" - just like `120 of you did in March! Come on out and shake it to the Latin beat of Zumba music and conga drums. What a fun way to keep in shape!

YMCA Healthy Kids Day, April 2010

"Put play in your day!" was the motto for almost 500 kids and adults that came to the Kitsap Family YMCA in April to celebrate YMCA Healthy Kids Day . 

The nation's largest health day for children and families, YMCA Healthy Kids Day, offers families a chance to play together and learn about wellness and healthier living.  YMCA Healthy Kids Day will be celebrated across the country at more than 1,700 YMCAs.  Last year, over 700,000 people participated in YMCA Healthy Kids Day at events held nationwide.

Resolution Walk/Run #4 - Sunday Apr 4th

about 50 dedicated runners & walkers showed up for the last Reso Run of the year - on an Easter Sunday too!20K (12.4 miles) Run or 5 mile walk @ 9:00 am Followed by a BBQ/Potluck in annex.

EASTER EGG HUNT - April 1st, 2010

Come look for what the Easter Bunny left for us! For children 5 and under, it will be held on the soccer field across from the Y building (or in the Gym in bad weather). BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket)


ZUMBA PARTY - TUESDAY, MARCH 16TH, 5:30 PM

"Ditch the Workout & Join the Party" - and 120 of you did just that! What a party it was - the whole gym floor was covered with lots of high-energy women (& some men...) shaking to the Latin beat of Zumba music and conga drums.

YOUTH PERFORMANCE DAY - FEB 27, 2010
A FREE Event for everyone! Family and friends are welcome to attend to see their sons & daughters, brothers & sisters, friends & neighbor kids perform. Snacks & refreshments will be provided, while you watch the performances, featuring the Y Kids performing in Irish Dance, Cheerleading, Ballet & Toddler class exercises. Resolution Walk/Run #1, #2 & #3 - Jan 3rd, Feb 7th and Mar 4th

WOW! 123 participants in the biggest Resolution Run/walk in our history! Exceeded only by ResoRun #2 at 144 participants! You Go Guys & Girls - thanks for your participation...

10K (6.2 miles) or 5 miles @ 9:00 am Followed by a Potluck in annex.

Stay motivated through the long days of winter, set goals, meet fellow walkers and runners in a casual supportive atmosphere, network and improve your overall health while having fun.

Come back and join us in March for #3.


Christmas Social - Dec 15th, 2009

Your Bremerton Family YMCA provided a terrific potluck turkey/ham dinner, with all the trimmings, to Y Members and their guests. It continued the record of smashing successes.

Santa DID show up and all the kids got great presents - what could be better than that on a rainy mid-December evening!


Harvest Social & Carnival 2009

Y Members and their guests dressed in their scariest & most ghoulish to celebrate the Fall Season, Harvest time and Halloween. Games, prizes and costume contest for children & adults, along with light refreshments were provided.


HERITAGE HALL OF HONOR INDUCTION

 

The Heritage Hall of Honor was established by the Kitsap Family YMCA Foundation to honor those volunteers that have led the way in giving their time, talent and treasure.
 

Four remarkable members of our community have been recognized by placing a special plaque on the Hall of Honor wall in the Y gymnasium.
 

This Hall of Honor award is for volunteers displaying a level of service and dedication deserving our most prominent recognition and this year's inductees at the ceremony on Sunday June 3rd were:
