Community Day - Saturday, June 12, 2010.
The Kitsap Family YMCA will host a special event,
Community Day with an "Old-fashioned Picnic" theme
on Saturday, June 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Every year, the Kitsap Family YMCA opens its doors
to the community to people of all ages to explore
everything the YMCA has to offer. Throughout the
day, the YMCA will hold an open house so that
visitors can tour the YMCA facility, obtain free
passes, watch a YMCA introduction video and attend
regular classes. Community Day offers live
entertainment and picnic-inspired games from 11:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Say, "Yee haw!" to square-dancing demonstrations by
Square Steppers and be entertained from 11:30
a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Community Partner area.

This year, the YMCA is taking part of the
festivities outside, hosting a picnic lunch from
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. However, people may bring
their own picnic basket, filled with their favorite
eats, and a picnic blanket so they can sit out on
the front lawn all afternoon and watch the
festivities.

In the "Bee Hive," the children's fun zone, kids can
enter a special world just for them where they will
buzz with excitement when they play lawn games like
bean bag toss, sack race relays, and oversized
games like horseshoes and Snakes and Ladders on the
front lawn. In the activity center, they'll be arts
and crafts from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., which are
designed for small hands and big imaginations.

At 1:00 p.m., the Bubbleman, Garry Golightly, will
amaze the crowd with larger-than-life bubbles
and spectacular bubble creations for 60 minutes.
Golightly is an award-winning children's performer.
He has been recognized in over 30 countries for his
unique and educational approach.
Youth and adults will have the opportunity to have
fun as well with popular picnic games such as tug of
war, sack races, water balloon relays and much more
in the grassy fields across from the Y.
In the Community Partner area, local businesses
and non-profits will host interactive displays and
activities:
- In the campfire area, people can gather around
a mock campfire and spin their best tall tales
- The Kitsap Regional Library will tell campfire
stories from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
- The Boy Scouts will build a model campsite and;
- the Campfire Girls will offer an arts and
crafts activity;

music bus so that all ages can experience music at
their fingertips;
